“At Athleta Scarsdale, we have been lucky enough to have partnered with Gina on a couple of occasions when she has come to the store to teach the amazing Afro Flow Yoga® class! Her sweet and authentic energy filled the space and brought such life and joy to a practice so many live by. We look forward to continuing to support Gina as a community partner and would LOVE to have her and Afro Flow back in the store!”

I take Gina's gentle yoga classes when I can make it after work and I am in love with her classes and teaching methods. Her yoga classes are beginner friendly and she instructs in such an understandably simple way. She also plays R&B soul and a little bit of hip hop and creates such a safe space for Black women especially. I HIGHLY recommend taking her class!

Thank you Gina for introducing me to Afro-Flow Yoga. I instantly connected to this form of yoga because of the pure and spiritual alignment I felt from it. Not to mention your warm and authentic energy made it comfortable to explore this form of yoga that was new to me. As well as your natural ability to motivate! Thanks again Gina!

I really can’t say enough how proud of you I am. It was/is an honor to see your work up close. I had fun, I sweat, I reflected, I actually did bust a tear. I’m going to say it’s because your yoga voice is super soothing. Gina is joy in that room/space.

Weekly yoga with Gina has been the one thing missing from my workout routine that I didn't even know was missing! I love that she makes it easy to follow and encourages you to make the movements your own - do what feels right for you. Her voice is always so calm and soothing and the playlists are the best!

Having therapy with someone you can be your authentic self with is the best. I don’t have to filter anything and there’s zero judgement. My sessions are for me to let my hair down and work towards healing in a space designed to meet me wherever I am.

Virtual learning and working from home is stressful add the fact that your child has special needs and refuses to learn virtually. With work, school staff calling back-to-back my frustration was at an all time high and my supports were expecting for me to have all the answers. Gina usually has an idea that is so far from what you’re thinking that makes complete sense. I don’t think my first thought would ever be to care about my well-being. Culturally she understood why that wasn’t a thought and pushed me to do things to take care of myself. I definitely questioned this but noticed the difference in how I addressed hard situations when I was in a better place.

Gina is such a great instructor who made me feel confident even when I was a beginner, but more importantly she offers a unique yoga class. I love that along with the warmth and relief I feel after her sessions, I also have the chance to experience some joy and fun with the drumming, dancing, and empowering statements. It feels very inclusive, and enjoyable."

A few weeks ago, I was extremely overwhelmed with my first semester of law school and an unexpected breakup. I began experiencing panic attacks and depersonalization. Due to my reservations about therapy, I didn’t seek help or assistance from my institution's counseling service. My sister reached out to Gina and told her what I was experiencing. Gina told my sister that I can call her anytime I was ready to talk. One afternoon, I got on the phone with Gina and began pouring out all my fears about school and the future. Gina was a thoughtful listener and asked me questions that helped me get to the root of my anxiety. She gave me practical solutions and tips to implement when I began feeling overwhelmed. Gina helped me understand that I did have control over my situation. Before talking to her, I was strongly considering abandoning my graduate program. Gina’s diligence and effective communication skills helped me tremendously through a difficult time and I am extremely grateful for her.

Gina's Afro Flow Yoga classes helped me move my body in a fun, judgment free, fully present way. It helped me love my body again for all it does every day. Her voice, patience, joy, and humor make the class space a community you never want to leave. Her work is a game changer for Black and Brown women.

When I think of Gina there are so many adjectives that come to mind. She is empowering, sweet, direct, spectacular, splendid, regal, survivor, ultimate, little but big, strong. I could go on. However, what stands out to me is the word empowering. She easily fills the cups of others without prompting or prying. Her regal essence is addictive. She has the ability to empower the weakest and the most full. Afterall no matter how full one is she has the ability to fill you up just a little bit more. I thank God that I know Gina. Everyone should be so blessed.

I was super skeptical about joining yet another yoga class. I had not had the best experience. I joined Gina’s class for the first time in February. I had never felt more calmness and support. Some of the moves were challenging but Gina not only extended great encouragement, but she also helped me to modify moves until I was able to do them. I am happy to say I have found my yoga home!

I tried therapy before but it didn’t feel right. 2020 was a shit show!!! I read through Gina’s profile and immediately felt like she would be a good match for me and less than 5 sessions in my personal work was clear and she was going to walk alongside me and lift me up. What amazed me the most is what I thought I was starting therapy Gina added a whole other twist which was really the root. Her insight is everything and I’ve learned a lot about myself.

I met Gina at Afro Flow Yoga and felt comfortable enough to share battle with anxiety. I started following her on IG to keep up with classes and got to know a little more about her personality. IG doesn’t tell you much but the glimpse that she shared made me admire her energy. She’s a true storyteller. You can easily cry, laugh and relate all in the same breath. She doesn’t shy away from hard conversations and embraces the dark as much as the light and she’ll be the first to let you know why we need both sometimes.

I have wanted to practice yoga for some time. I remember going to a yoga studio near where I lived for a couple of sessions, but not feeling quite comfortable. The teacher and other participants weren't inviting, personable, or made this newbee want to come back. This was years ago and I never went to another studio. I sort of put practicing yoga on my "bucket list" until I met Gina. Gina brings comfort as soon as she speaks to you, When I learned she taught yoga I couldn't wait to join her class. I knew from her spirit and energy that she would meet me where I was, as I dared to practice yoga again. I knew that I would enjoy the class because of her inviting nature and infectious smile. Gina's class also feds my soul and leaves me wanting more each and every time. Gina is a blessing. Gina is a powerhouse. Gina is someone you need in your life. Trust!

My child was diagnosed with Autism this year. I went from wanting it gone to trying to figure out what I did wrong. It had to be something I did and the guilt I carried was heavy. Gina was patient with me and all my emotions without judgment. In hindsight she would often remind me of what she admired about me as a mother. I don’t know for anybody else but sometimes mothers need that. She helped me understand his diagnosis and pushed me to enjoy my daughter and all the joy that was happening right in front of me. My daughter didn’t like most of her therapists but she always lit up when Gina was on the screen. I can’t tell you how good it felt to be able to walk away and know my daughter was happy and comfortable and learning.

Calming, exhilarating, purposeful, energy...are just a few words that come to mind during and after attending an Afro Flow class with Gina. Her calming and inviting nature comes through effortlessly. She provides a safe environment to feel and be present in. You owe it to yourself to attend one of her sessions!

I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about Gina. Gina was my clinical supervisor at the very beginning of my career and remains a trusted mentor and a dear friend and confidant. As a new clinician, Gina immediately put me at ease with her kind hearted nature and great sense of humor. Her passion for her work is palpable. She cares deeply for her clients and supervisees and embodies the very mission of genuine social work practice. Gina always made herself available to answer my questions even outside of regularly scheduled supervision sessions and always provided me with unwavering support and encouragement. I always left supervision with a fresh perspective and a new clinical tool. Gina’s support and strong clinical guidance assisted me in navigating challenging cases with confidence and contributed greatly to my ability to formulate my identity as a young clinician. Gina helped me to hone the tools necessary to develop a strong clinical foundation and the confidence to learn and grow. Gina is a true master of her craft. Her approach is fresh and eclectic, she will gently challenge you and will help you to think differently. She offers a safe, nonjudgmental and empowering space for clients and supervisees alike. She is a warrior for social justice. Clinical supervision is a necessary investment and Gina’s support is of an incalculable value. I could not recommend supervision with Gina more. Her mentorship is something I am so incredibly thankful for.
